The berth, not the vessel, is the constrained resource. A boat can be built to order; a harbour cannot be extended. Monaco’s ports give priority to requests from residents, and there is no single published waiting time — smaller berths can be measured in months to a few years, larger ones behave differently and less transparently.
The pressure peaks on one weekend. The 2026 Monaco Grand Prix runs 5–7 June, and for that weekend a berth in Port Hercule is not a mooring, it is a grandstand seat with a bed.
