Art Basel’s 2026 flagship show opens to the public on 18 June and closes on 21 June, with preview days on the 16th and 17th. Those two preview days are the actual event; by the time the public doors open the important conversations have happened.
The Venice Biennale is the slower half of the circuit. The 61st edition runs 9 May to 22 November 2026, with previews from 6 May, gathering 99 countries under the title "In Minor Keys", curated by Koyo Kouoh.
What makes this a travel category rather than an art one is that the calendar is fixed years ahead and the cities are small. Basel and Venice cannot absorb the demand, so the constraint is not the ticket — it is the bed, the table and the fact that everybody wants the same four days.
