A hundred and thirteen thousand people reached Antarctica in the 2025–26 season, and the number is falling. It is the only line on this list where going down is the interesting direction.
IAATO, the operators’ association, counted 113,500 visitors across the 2025–26 season — November to March. That was 4.2% down on the year before, and the second consecutive annual decline.
Antarctica inverts every other category here. There is no lounge, no tier, no bezel and nothing to wear. The signal is that you accepted a Drake Passage crossing, a rigid landing schedule and weather that cancels plans without discussion.
The falling number is the point. Most status destinations are in a race to be discovered; this one is quietly self-limiting, because the season is short, the berths are finite and the trip is genuinely unpleasant for two days in each direction.
